Project Description
One of three major solo exhibitions that opened across the country in the summer of 2013, this James Turrell exhibition marked the artist’s return to a New York museum since 1980. The exhibit ion presents Turrell’s early investigations with perception, light, space and time with an inherent emphasis on site-specificity.  Among his early works, the show unveiled a newly commissioned work: Aten Reign, a sky space designed to illuminate the organic spaces of the Guggenheim museum’s central void, as delineated by the rotunda and spiraling ramps.
